Exalted Rulers Message

May 2009

As you will no doubt note when you go through this month’s bulletin we have hit the ground running this new year.  (A quick thanks to Brother Chris Fafard for putting out the Bulletin.)  The new bar area has generated quite a buzz and some other nice upgrades to the other areas have drawn some attention.

If you missed the Installation Dinner last month you missed a good time.  The food that Lee and crew put out was great and the dancing was fun.  Thanks to everyone (they don’t give me enough space to name everyone) who pitched in to make it such a great success.  If I were you I wouldn’t miss anymore of these functions.

Shameless promotion of the facilities by our social guru Donna Stamatakis, and others, has resulted in a marked increase in the number of private parties being booked at the Lodge.  These are proving to be very profitable and I would like to see these continue and even increase.  I encourage everyone to talk up the availability of the facilities to your friends and family.  As we begin to book more and more parties, however, it becomes more difficult to manage.  To ensure we don’t over book the facilities, all requests for bookings need to go through Ms. Donna.  Thank you for your support in this matter.

We already have several new members coming on board in May.  Last month I set a goal of 100 (net) new members for this lodge year.  I am confident we can do this.  There is a poster on the Bulletin Board in the bar area that is designed to track the number of new members.  You have heard this before  --  If everyone just brought in one new member  --  well you know its right.  It can happen.  Anyone game for a little competition?  Line up your recruits.  Next months message will reveal a scheme to reward the Member with the most new Members.

I have been encouraged, already, by the amount of support and help we are getting from members who have been willing to step up and help with a number of things.  Again, as you will see in the Bulletin we have a lot of Lodge activities on the calendar for May and June.  And the rest of the year will be just as busy.  We have placed sign up sheets on the bulletin board for some of these activities and need more people to help.  Please try to find some time in your otherwise busy schedules to help out.

There is also a need to fill some of the Committee positions that remain vacant.  If you see me coming to talk to you please don’t run.  We need you!!!!!!!

Secretary Beth Davis has been working very hard to get new cards out to the dues paying Members.  These first two months are hectic. Thank you Beth for hanging in there.  Keep up the great work.

At the time of this writing, however, I have noticed that a number of Members have not yet sent in their dues for the 2008 – 2009 Lodge year.  If you haven’t been down in awhile, please take the time to come and see the changes and bring your dues check with you.  We think you will like what you see and with all the fun activities we are planning, we hope this will encourage you come around more often.

I think I’m about out of space so I’ll close by saying that Betty and I are excited about this coming year and all the promise we see for making it a great one.  Oh!!!! And one last thing  --  Petey,  I think you’ve milked this thing long enough.  Back to work.  We miss you.
