ER's Message

January 2012

Brothers and Sisters,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  I would like to thank all the members who worked and participated on the numerous functions in December which was a very successful month.  It was wonderful to see everyone that showed up to the eggnog party, it reminded me of the old days when the lodge would be filled with lots of members and their guests routinely.  Wouldn't it be great to have large gatherings like that more often?  It was a great night and it was so good to see everyone.  Earnings from the $1000 drawing will be going to the front porch renovation.  Look for work to start soon!.

Thank you Dave McGuiness and Mike Schodlbauer and all those who helped organizing the hoop shoot.   There were twenty children who participated at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High.  The winners in each age group will move on to the district competition held in Sebastian this month.  Good luck to all the participants!

Thank you to Santa who made his appearance for the children's Christmas party.  He brought presents and smiles to all the children.  My appreciation to all of Santa's helpers for their assistance with the food and games.

January will bring a new year and several functions.  The Ride for Life on January 15th which is a motorcycle poker run for Charity.  If you love to ride, please mark your calendar and join us for a journey which will end at our Lodge with food and entertainment for all.  This is open to anyone who wants to participate.

Don't forget to come down to Steak Night on the 22nd, the steaks have been great, let's have a good turnout.

Welcome back Cornholers on Thursday nights.
We're so very glad you've returned!!

We are initiating four new members which will bring our membership closer to our goal for the year.  Everyone bring a new member and let's try to surpass the goal of 34 new Elks.  If anyone knows a member that has not paid their dues because of financial difficulties please let them know that they can contact me personally to discuss options for help to renew their membership.  I would much rather have members participating rather than not due to hardship.  We are all brothers and sisters and we should help each other in times of need.

We have a new year coming up April 1st and we are in need of several Officers.  Most urgent is the Secretary position for the 2012/2013 year that begins in April 2012.  If you are interested in serving I would love to hear from you.  The Secretary position is one of the most important chairs in the Lodge which we can't operate without.  Nominations will be starting soon for all chairs.  Please consider taking a lead role and help to support all our charitable endeavors.

Thank you again to everyone for all your help and support.  We need more members and more participation with all the upcoming events.   With your help we can make this a GREAT year.

Fraternally yours,

Russell Bailey
